In a rush to collect data for reporting, IR and assessment offices can forget to connect what data is being collected and why with how it’s being collected for faculty. Faculty are an integral component of the assessment process. Faculty understanding and engagement is critical for the successful implementation of any assessment activity that involves the collection of course and program-level data for institutional level reporting requirements. Demonstrating to faculty how their classroom activities flow into the assessment process bridges the gap between data and useful information. Using the Quality Enhancement Plan as an example, the presenters will explain how faculty engagement in assessment was initiated and sustained at El Centro College.
