Craven Community College Chooses Watermark to Improve Learning and Institutional Outcomes

NEW YORK— April 20, 2018—Watermark, the largest provider of assessment software for higher ed worldwide, is pleased to welcome one of its newest institutional partners, Craven Community College in New Bern, North Carolina. Accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges, Craven Community College has selected Watermark for use within both academic and non-academic units across the entire campus.

Focused on using data to drive meaningful improvements, CCC adopted Watermark specifically because of its ability to increase efficiencies and create a more holistic integration of institutional effectiveness processes, including: operational planning, program review, learning outcomes assessment, and accreditation reporting. Craven Community College plans to leverage Watermark to break down data silos at the institution, reduce redundancy and time spent on manual processes, and provide more longitudinal transparency around plans, goals, outcomes, and results.

With over 300 employees and 1,100 member institutions, Watermark has a proven track record with other similar institutions, such as Wake Technical Community College in Raleigh, North Carolina — which helped cement CCC’s final decision.

“While Watermark solutions certainly support meeting rigorous state, regional, and professional/specialized accreditation requirements, that’s only part of their story. We are choosing to implement Watermark because it will help us integrate our planning, assessment, and accreditation tracking processes, as well as provide us the educational intelligence data needed to make informed decisions that will improve student outcomes,” said Dr. Cynthia Bellacero, Executive Director of Institutional Effectiveness & SACSCOC Liaison for CCC.

“We’re honored to have Craven Community College as our newest institutional partner. We are committed to developing the solutions that community colleges need to meet the challenges of effectively planning for assessment and using data to improve outcomes. We want our technology to ease the process of assessment so that faculty and administrators can focus more on using their data to make meaningful improvements,” said Kevin Michielsen, CEO of Watermark.

Founded in 1965, Craven Community College is a comprehensive community college with campuses in New Bern and Havelock-Cherry Point, serving more than 3,200 curriculum students and nearly 10,000 continuing education students each year. CCC features a wide range of programs, including college transfer courses, career and occupational offerings, partnerships with four-year universities, specialized workforce training options, developmental studies and basic-skills classes, and multiple career centers.

With more than 200 faculty and staff using Watermark, Craven Community College can now streamline its management of compliance requirements, as well centralize institutional improvement processes in order to use its data to make meaningful improvements at all levels.
