Recognizing Outstanding Achievement in Educational Technology Products and Companies
AUSTIN, Texas – June 9, 2021 – Watermark, a leading higher educational intelligence software provider, today announced that Placement Management for Via by Watermark is the winner of the “Overall Career Prep Solution of the Year” award in the third annual EdTech Breakthrough Awards program. The Award was made by EdTech Breakthrough, the awards program sponsor, a prominent market intelligence organization recognizing top companies and solutions in the global educational technology market.
“We’re incredibly honored and proud to receive this award,” stated Erin Shy, CEO of Watermark. She continued, “We are pleased to know Placement Management for Via transforms the User Experience for future teachers into a streamlined, data-driven, decision-making process for their potential field placements with ongoing assessments, so they can focus on the quality of the teaching experience and excellence in learning outcomes.”
Placement Management is designed for Educator Preparation Programs, to help coordinators match students with sites and mentors in the field. It integrates data from the National Center for Education Statistics database with selection criteria directly from each teacher candidate. Placement coordinators can then easily determine the best potential teaching sites for the candidate and match them with the site that will best meet their needs to gain excellent experience in diverse student, school, and community settings.
“Student teaching placement in the field for clinical teaching practice has recently become even more challenging with virtual and hybrid classes, and with Placement Management, we’ve risen to that challenge,” commented Darren Bauer Kahan, Chief Product and Technology Officer at Watermark. He continued, “Placement Management, or PM, creates a clear view into each candidate’s placement history. Combine that with Via’s performance data from external assessors and we are able to offer a fully integrated view of teacher readiness and student teaching excellence.”
“There are major business advantages to implementing and using Placement Management,” said James Johnson, Managing Director of EdTech Breakthrough. The mission of the EdTech Award is to recognize product excellence, creative and technical innovation, hard work and industry success in a diverse range of educational technology categories, including Student Engagement, School Administration, Adaptive Learning, STEM Education, e-Learning, Career Prep and more. The 2021 global Awards Program attracted more than 2,000 nominations and from over 17 different countries. Johnson added, “Congratulations to Watermark for a breakthrough solution in the EdTech market, and our clear choice for the Overall Career Prep Solution of the Year!”
